Sun shines after...

As I started the new unit this week, I was using the eliciting strategy called table listing.  It was fun and at the same time we all learn in the class.  I appreciated my students so much since they were able to complete the table.  Then I used the recording notebook wherein the students answer on their own, record their answers and then they meet as a group where members were asked  to form a semantic web connecting each others answers to check possible misconceptions if there are about matter. They were able to find connections in all of their answers.  I'm so happy looking at them doing all the work. Lastly, I posted on the board our EQ for the unit.  I was so amazed with the answer of one of my students , a girl (Kate)who was able to relate matter in her own experience. She said if there's no solid, we won't be able to eat food, no liquid, we can't drink water, and no gas, we would die since we can't breathe. How can we survive without matter? I never thought she would answer it in that way, on how does matter affect one's life and everything else?  Now as I started to complete my MALT assignment, I come to realize the importance of having an EQ such as this to guide us all the way in our journey to complete each unit task that we have to undertake,..It seems to me that it's like the pathway which will lead to what everyone would want our students to do, that is to find meaning in what transpire in the classroom setting.. Just simply hope I am in the right path...
